When you book Cal Cintet you take the whole house: all 120 square metres across four connected floors, with nobody else on the stairs and no reception to check in at. A keypad lock means your group comes and goes on its own schedule, and the loudest thing you'll hear at night is the wind coming off the Montsec.
It suits a family that wants everyone under one roof, or a group of friends who'd rather cook together than book a table. There's room to spread out — a kitchen big enough for everyone to pitch in, a living room built around a wood stove, two balconies where the valley opens up in front of you — and quiet corners to read a book or turn in early when you want them.
Vilanova de Meià sits in the Meià valley, in the Noguera region of Lleida, right at the foot of the Montsec range. It's about two hours from Barcelona (147 km), 55 minutes from Lleida and three-quarters of an hour from Balaguer — far enough to feel properly away, close enough to reach after work on a Friday.
Oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer, microwave and coffee maker — everything a full house needs to put a proper meal on the table together. Bring the region's lamb, cheese and wine and let dinner be the evening's plan.

The Montsec is a certified Starlight Reserve, with one of the darkest skies in Europe. Step onto the balcony after dark, or drive out to the Parc Astronòmic del Montsec in Àger (about 50 minutes) to look through the telescopes.
Quiet back roads and mountain tracks make the Meià valley good cycling country, on road or gravel. Bikes can be arranged as an extra if you'd rather travel light.
Vilanova de Meià grew up around an 11th-century castle, and the valley is dotted with stone villages, Romanesque churches and viewpoints — Llimiana, Santa Maria de Meià and more make easy half-day outings for the whole group.
